Dr. Nandakumaran P - (Advisor)
A former Chairman of Central Ground Water Board & Central Ground Water Authority and the first Project Director of Atal Bhujal Yojana, Dr. Nandakumaran brings his rich experience of nearly 36 years of Government Service to the company. During his career, he gained expertise in various aspects of ground water management, including its exploration, development, regulation & augmentation in different terrains of the country. He has played a key role in framing policies related to sustainable management of ground water in India and was a recipient of the National Geoscience Award for the year 2019. He has also undergone international trainings on ground water management and impact of climate change on water resources.
Sunil Kumar - (Hon Advisor)
Shri Sunil Kumar, another former Chairman of Central Ground Water Board & Central Ground Water Authority, is a graduate of the University of Roorkee (now IIT, Roorkee) with an M.Tech in Applied Geology. With extensive experience in groundwater management, Sunil Kumar has expertise in groundwater surveys, exploration, resource estimation, sustainable development, and managed aquifer recharge. He's also skilled in Remote Sensing, GIS, and ground water modelling. He was instrumental in operationalizing the modified ground water regulatory regime in the country. He has played a key role in shaping groundwater policies of the country through his involvement in various committees and task forces. He was honoured with "Lifetime Achievement Award" of the IME Journal Awards in 2022.
S K Sinha - (Hydrogeologist)
An alumnus of IIT, Roorkee, Shri S K Sinha possess an M.Tech in Applied Geology and a Master’s in Hydrology with specialization in ground water. He is a former Senior Scientist of Central Ground Water Board, with 34 years of experience in the organization. During his tenure in CGWB, he was associated with many ground water management projects of national importance such as the National Aquifer Mapping & Management Program, Implementation of the scheme of Demonstrative Artificial Recharge Scheme etc. His expertise spans various fields including ground water modelling, network optimisation, aquifer rejuvenation, solid waste management, lake restoration & management and underground taming of floods.
Dr. Uma Kapoor - (Director)
Dr. Uma Kapoor is a former Regional Director of the Central Ground Water Authority and has a Doctorate in Geology from Delhi University. She has over 35 years of professional experience in the field of ground water and possesses extensive experience in ground water exploration, water conservation & recharge, ground water pollution studies, and ground water impact assessment. Dr Kapoor has made significant contributions in the implementation of National Aquifer Mapping programme, Atal Bhujal Yojana as well as ground water regulation scheme of the Ministry of Jal Shakti, Government of India. She has also been a Member of the Expert Appraisal Committee of the Ministry of Environment, Forests and Climate Change.
Durjoy Chakraborty - (Director)
Shri Durjoy Chakraborty has a PG degree in Geology from Delhi University and Masters in Hydrology from IIT Roorkee. A former Senior Scientist with more than three decades of experience in Central Ground Water Board, he is adept in finding innovative solutions to complex problems related to Ground water management in different terrains of the country. He has also worked as a Senior Scientist in Central Ground Water Authority and has been involved in policy formulation and participatory water resources management. He is an expert in ground water Targeting & development, formulation of watershed management plans for sustainable use of water resources, participatory ground water management, geophysical investigations with 3D imaging (ERT), mining hydrogeology etc.
Anuradha Bhatia - (Hydrogeologist & Water Auditor)
Ms. Anuradha Bhatia has an M. Tech in Hydrogeology from IIT Roorkee. She is a former senior scientist of Central Ground Water Board with nearly 35 years of experience in dealing with a plethora of ground water issues related to ground Water exploration, development and management. She has expertise in water conservation & recharge, Impact Assessment of ground water withdrawal, assessment of ground Water resources using Remote Sensing & GIS tools, etc. She is also Water Auditor, certified by the Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Ground Water Training & Research, Ministry of Jal Shakti, Government of India.
Baldev Raj Chug - (Director)
Baldev Raj Chug, having a master’s degree in Business Administration, is an innovative entrepreneur and is the financial wizard of HGS. He is adept in business development, especially in the field of water resources and has extensive experience of more than 25 years in conceptualizing, designing, execution implementation of rainwater harvesting Systems across India, drilling of water wells & Piezometers and related activities.
